About this experience

lessonWheel Throwing For Beginners is a 7-week session open to anyone interested.

During each two-hour lesson you will be guided through finding your personal approach to the potter’s wheel. Sessions are open to beginners and those with wheel experience.

Classes 1-6: You will learn/revisit the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel, trimming, attaching handles.

Class 7: In the last class you will learn how to glaze your master pieces (we have hundreds of colours to choose from).   Your work then goes into the kiln again for the last time. Picking up your finished masterpieces: We will notify you when your work is ready for pick up.


Does NOT include clay or your tool kit- you will be required to purchase a bag of stoneware for $17 in advance and tool kit (approx $29)

Duration: 7 Classes, 2 hours per class  

Minimum Age: Adult (16+)

*Please arrive 15mins early to the first class to allow for intros and getting oriented and ready to hit the wheel so we can begin class on time. Subsequent classes, please use your judgement on how early you need to come in order to be ready and on the wheel at class start time. We all want to maximize the experience for everyone!

What to wear: Wear comfortable, practical clothing and footwear that you are ok with getting muddy.

What to bring:

  • Apron

  • A small hand towel or similar size

  • A fun and playful, can do attitude!!! :D

Maximum  6 students/ class

Any class interrupted by government issued COVID measures will be postponed and reinstated after restrictions are lifted.

About the instructor
By day I run my pottery supply house, by night I teach and make pottery. When I am not doing these things I am surfing pages admiring pottery and supporting other potters. I love to make earthly functional ware that people can showcase and enjoy using everyday.
