Collection: Micro-glaçures

Mayco Stoneware Micro Glazes produce subtle crystalline blooms during firing, similar to the effects found in the their Stoneware Crystal Glazes. Micro is short for microcrystalline.

However, unlike the Crystal glazes—which produce large blooms as a result of the glass frit included in the glaze—Micro glazes produce small crystallizations during the cooling process, as a result of the inclusion of zinc and silica in fully liquid glaze.

These glazes can be fired from cones 5-10, but we suggest a hot cone 6 with a fast cool in a loosely packed kiln for optimum crystallization. Crystallization may not form at higher temperatures.
