A water soluble, low temperature flux which lowers the fusion point of glazes and promotes a smooth melt. A source of sodium and boric oxide in glazes.

Used in many Raku glazes and other glazes for special effects such as Aventurine and Iron saturate. Can also be used in small amounts in engobes as a binder and auxiliary flux.
