Sodium Silicate is used as a major deflocculant in preparing slip. It reduces the amount of water needed, therefore reducing shrinkage. This is a pure sodium silicate and must be mixed with water to a 50/50 solution for most casting bodies.
I love the look of Textured Turquoise, but it needs 3 really good, flowing coats for consistent colour. It blends so well with other coloutmrs, Ancient Copper and Kimchi being 2 of my favourites! Was thrilled to be able to get a gallon from Great White North Pottery Supply!

I just love this glaze! It's beautiful by itself on brown / red clay. But oh my is it amazing when layered with other glazes. Right now, my favourite combination is 3 base coats of honey flux, then a band of blue rutile on the rim, 3 times. BEAUTIFUL.
